Timothy R. Johnson
Timothy (“Tim”) R. Johnson joined Pietrangelo Cook in April, 2007, and is a partner in the firm's Litigation Practice Group.
He concentrates his practice in the areas of products liability, healthcare, commercial litigation, and real estate.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Johnson practiced at Bass Berry & Sims, PLC and Thomason, Hendrix, Harvey, Johnson & Mitchell, PLLC, where he gained substantial experience as a trial attorney, representing clients in numerous state and federal trials, as well as handling appeals before state and federal courts.
Mr. Johnson recently managed and supervised a team of lawyers in defense of over 1,500 cases in West Tennessee for Wyeth in nationwide Fen-Phen pharmaceutical litigation. He has also successfully defended numerous claims against physicians and hospitals for medical malpractice as well as represented such clients as MasterCard Worldwide and Shell Oil Company in national class action litigation. Mr. Johnson also advises and has represented such clients as UT Cancer Group, The Hartford, and Schindler Elevator Corporation locally in Tennessee and regionally.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Mr. Johnson grew up in Memphis and graduated from University of Memphis with a B.B.A. degree in Finance. He received his J.D., with honors, from University of Memphis. While in law school, he was notes editor for the Law Review Editorial Board. After receiving his law degree, he served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Bailey Brown of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit from 1994 to 1995.
Mr. Johnson is a member of the American, Tennessee, and Memphis Bar Associations and has served on various committees focusing on dispute resolution and trial practice.
