Michael A. Pietrangelo, who became Counsel to Pietrangelo Cook in 1997, was born in Staten Island, New York, in 1942. He is a member of the Tennessee, New York, and District of Columbia Bars.
He graduated from St. Peters College in Jersey City, New Jersey, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1964. He attained his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York in 1967, then became an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission and later for Pfizer, Inc.
Mr. Pietrangelo joined Schering-Plough Corp. in 1972, where he served as Legal Director and then Associate General Counsel based in the worldwide Consumer Operations headquarters in Memphis. He served as Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Memphis and University of Mississippi. He became President of Schering-Ploughs Personal Care Products Group in 1985, responsible for Coppertone®, Dr. Scholls® and other icon brands.
He later served as president and chief operating officer of Western Publishing Group (Golden Books); as president and chief operating officer of the Cleo, Inc. (wrapping paper) subsidiary of Gibson Greetings; and president of the Johnson Products Co. (cosmetics) subsidiary of Ivax Corp. He continues to serve on several corporate and civic boards, including that of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp.
Mr. Pietrangelos interests include thoroughbred horse breeding and racing. He also enjoys activities with his grandchildren.
