Carl Jacobson joined Pietrangelo Cook PLC in December, 2013. He brings to the firm a wealth of experience, which includes both in-house and law firm practice. Mr. Jacobson has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts and his practice areas include civil litigation, employment relations and employment-related litigation, and franchise consultation and litigation.

Since 2004, Mr. Jacobson has served as General Counsel for Lenny’s Sub Shops, a large quick service restaurant franchising business. From 1999 until 2004, he was General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for Gate Gourmet, the world’s second largest airline catering business. In addition to being responsible for the company’s legal matters, Mr. Jacobson was also responsible for Gate Gourmet's labor relations with both the Teamsters and the Hotel Employees Restaurant Employees (HERE) unions. From 1997 until 1999, he was a litigation partner in Ford & Harrison, PLLC, a nationwide employment law firm. From 1988 until 1997, Mr. Jacobson was a civil litigation partner in Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs. From 1984 until 1988, he was a prosecutor in the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, serving in Germany and Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

Mr. Jacobson was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1983. During his prior private practice, Mr. Jacobson’s clients included: DuPont, Schering-Plough, Aetna, Dobbs International, Mid-America Apartment Communities, Overnight Transportation, State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company, Regions Bank, and Michael’s Craft Stores.

Mr. Jacobson earned his Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University in 1983. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1980. Mr. Jacobson and his wife, Angie, have been married since 1979 and have five children.
